Conocido en español como Los Caballeros del Zodiaco, es un MANGA / ANIME JAPONES. Narra la historia de un grupo de jóvenes guerreros denominados Santos que luchan por proteger a la diosa Atenea de las fuerzas del mal. Para luchar, los Santos sólo utilizan su cosmoenergía, sus puños y armaduras que les sirven de protección y que además están inspiradas en constelaciones y seres de diferentes mitologias (cristiana, budismo, griega y nordica).
Historia El anime se emitió desde el 11 de octubre de 1986 hasta el 1 de abril de 1989 en tres temporadas de 114 episodios. Inicialmente, la serie tenía planeados 52 capítulos que finalmente se extendió hasta los 73 episodios, convirtiéndose en la primera temporada de la serie y que corresponde al primer capítulo del manga, Santuario con algunos añadidos en la historia y por lo tanto en personajes. Antes de que se venciera el contrato fue pactada una segunda temporada, Asgard (ep. 74 al 99), que no estaba basada directamente en el manga, sino que fue inspirada en el episodio Hyga en el país de los hielos que se encuentra al final del tomo 13 del manga. Posteriormente siguió una tercera temporada correspondiente al segundo capítulo del manga, Poseidón (ep. 100 al 114). Lamentablemente, la productora decidió no continuar con el tercer capítulo del manga, Hades dejando de esta manera la historia inconclusa.
La saga de Hades En el año 2002, Toei Animation decide llevar a la animación la primera parte del tercer capítulo del manga, Hades - Santuario. Se planificó la historia en trece episodios los cuales comenzaron a transmitirse a partir del 9 de noviembre de ese mismo año. Se comenzó a emitir desde el 1 de marzo en Latinoamerica por la señal de cable Cartoon Network. A finales del 2005 y principios del 2006, se lanzan 6 OVAS adicionales que corresponde a la segunda parte de Hades, Infierno, posteriormente se anuncian 6 OVA más para finalizar la parte de Infierno que se emitieron desde el 15 de diciembre de 2006 y durante principios de 2007. Masami Kurumada anuncio en su blog que la parte final del Hades, conocida como Hades - Eliseos.
